Tracing Your African American Roots

Wednesday, May 22, 2019, 9:00 PM

Discover African Americans in Records Prior to 1870. Using two case studies, Cynthia Maharrey will take attendees on a research journey, looking at both the enslaved people and the free people of color. Attendees will see several of the documents which are available to help with either path.
Cynthia Maharrey was born and raised in a small town in West Virginia. She is fascinated by the intricacies that make up her own family history. She holds a certificate in Genealogical Research from Boston University. With that accomplishment, she turned her "most favorite thing to do" into her livelihood.
